Hello Saturday!
I just got back from a few days in Florida - I was born and lived my whole life there before finally coming home to the mountains. It was good to see old friends, but the moment the plane landed and I saw the hills again, even bare and gray against November clouds, my heart settled. The monochromatic layers of ridges in early winter feel like home in a way nothing else does.
It’s Thanksgiving here and I’m grateful for this place, for the quiet of my studio, and for you being here because making things with your hands matters to you too.

December Open Studio: Live Only, Human Connection
When: Sunday, December 7 at 2pm Eastern
What I'll be making: Hand-carved foam stamp Christmas postcards (my annual tradition)
Where: Zoom - but here's the thing...
I've decided these sessions won't be recorded anymore.
The recordings weren't the quality I wanted, and more importantly, I want to preserve the privacy and freedom that comes with a live, unrecorded gathering. What we share, what we make, what we say - it's just for us, in that moment.
And, something extra! Everyone who shows up live gets an actual handmade card in the mail from me. One of the cards I'll be making during the session. Because real connection deserves something you can hold in your hand.
About Last Time (and a Special Redo Video)
The November session had technical problems - no one could get in, which was frustrating for everyone. I fixed the issues (it works properly now, I promise), and I recorded a special redo session just for that project - you can see that here on YouTube.
But December? December will be live, fun and ready for you to join in.
What to Expect
I’ll explain my foam stamp process and print holiday postcards
Ask questions about process, materials, creative practice
Share what you're working on if you want to
Just watch quietly if that's what calls to you
Get a handmade card in your mailbox after

No perfection. No polish. Just creating outside the velvet rope.
This session is free, but you need to register so I can admit you from the waiting room (and so I know where to mail your card).
I'll be in the studio with you the first Sunday in December, I’d love to see you there.
As always, if you have questions, thoughts or want to share your latest creations, click reply and let me know. I read and reply to every message.
You shine!
Monette
P.S. It’s a beautiful time of year here - come share it with me in Open Studio, Sunday, December 7, at 2 PM EST.
